Chapter 14
Jezzy
I hated what was going on, but I now was going to face my demons head on. Marcus was on his way over and he was upset. I’d called him right after the guys left, even though I had to beg them to leave, and by then, he’d already seen the story on the internet. I understood he was frustrated, but I hadn’t lied to him. My virginity had been taken from me and I’d gotten pregnant by my uncle. If nothing else, he should feel bad for me. But I didn’t want, nor did I need his pity. I just needed his understanding. He texted me to let me know he was outside. Neither one of us had keys to each other’s place. Some would say that was weird and unheard of, but I honestly enjoyed my space. He walked in and went right to the kitchen. I followed slowly behind him.
He grabbed a beer from the fridge, something that he kept over here for his visits, and slammed the door.
“An abortion huh?”
“I was raped. What did you expect, for me to keep it?”
“Yeah? Well that’s not what the blogs are saying.”
“The blogs are also saying you have another girlfriend and that you’re sleeping with a stripper. You don’t see me questioning you.”
He scowled at me. “None of what they are saying about me is true. You, on the other hand, did have an abortion and you aren’t a virgin.”
He smirked at my silence. But if he thought he had one up on me, he was wrong.
“Marcus, I wanted to talk to you before this got worse. I apologize that you had to find out this way, but this happened when I was seventeen. I just started coming to terms with it myself.”
“Let me ask you this. Does that damn Jimmy know?”
I frowned. “What does Jimmy have to do with this?”
“Does he know?”
“Yes. And so does Trent and Jimmy’s parents. And?”
He walked over to stand close to me, drinking the beer at the same time. “When did you tell them?”
I swallowed hard. I couldn’t lie. It doesn’t matter. He’s being a jerk.
“Trent read a letter I wrote him when we first broke up ten years ago. When we all had dinner with Jimmy’s parents a few months back, it just all came out.”
“So, let me get this straight miss goodie two shoes,” he said, mocking me. “You couldn’t tell me, your fiancé, the man you claim you want to spend the rest of your life with, but you managed to tell your ex-boyfriend and your little punk best friend, Jimmy?”
“Listen, I know you’re hurt and upset. I’m sorry. I really am. But I’ve known them all my life. Trent read the letter. I told him ten years ago. It’s not my fault he just decided to open it.”
“I wonder what made him do that.”
Marcus was glaring at me like he wanted to spit in my face. But I honestly didn’t feel as bad as I thought I would once I saw him.
